Case Study: Three-Piece Inflatable Penile Prosthesis Surgery in a Diabetic Patient
7 October 2026Erectile dysfunction is often thought to be the most common sexual health problem in men, but that is not entirely the case. According to current scientific studies, the most common sexual health problem is premature ejaculation.
Studies show that approximately 20–30% of men experience premature ejaculation at some point in their lives. However, the picture changes with age. Particularly after the age of 40, the prevalence of erectile dysfunction increases significantly and continues to rise with age. Roughly speaking, erectile dysfunction begins to be seen at increasing rates of around 40% after the age of 40, 50% after the age of 50, and 60% after the age of 60.
Why Are These Rates Important?
Both premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction are common sexual health problems, and if you are experiencing either of these conditions, you are not alone.
These problems may be associated with various organic causes, as well as changes related to the natural ageing process. However, what should be avoided is simply normalising these problems or ignoring them because of embarrassment.
Today, appropriate treatment options are available for both sexual health problems at different stages. The important thing is not to ignore the problem and to take the first step towards seeking treatment.
